God bless you, Cadillac.
God bless you.

Isn’t it beautiful!

I’m surprised they actually did it.
It’s about to get real.

This is indeed what I imagined when Johan de Nysschen himself told me about it three years ago (I’m going to beat this dead dog until it comes back to life):

What I find funny is how GM used to talk a ton of shit about the Germans DOHC setups, and how their OHV engines were far superior.
Oh wait, they did the same shit with aluminum.

This will look great in the back of the new Mid-Engined Cadillac.

Imagine a tune on this sucker pushing 800 bhp...

The northstar was an insult to reliability... Lets see what this engine turns out to be! I do believe a whole lotta people can kiss my ass if they tell me pushrod is better... It’s not better, it’s different!

I wish that top injection molded cover was actually the intake or something with the machined CADILLAC. Like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. The Germans aren’t doing this so it’s ok, but it would really elevate Cadillac, IMO.

But I thought all Cadillac did was copy the germans.
Hot vee? Checked
Twin turbo? Checked
4+ liter but less than 5l v8
Around 550-600hp checked.
/I joke

You may joke, but that is exactly what they do. Copy the formula but miss a few important details. I think something like a beautiful engine on their top models would help them become better than the Germans.
They need to copy the formula, execute the formula, and then expand on the formula, while keeping pricing in line with the competition. It might not make huge margins, but in 5-10 years of world beating products, you can make your money back. They need to go all in and commit, which it doesn’t seem like they are currently doing. Instead, they are going for world-meeting which isn’t enough to rebuild their reputation.

I do like that they finally have their own high-tech engine though! Not trying to play that down. Exciting times are surely ahead!

Thank you!

I mean, it would’ve been a high tech engine 10 years ago... But sure... But hell who am I kidding, I’m a mopar fanboi and all they do is vvt pushrod engines.

Yeah, it doesn’t matter if it’s smaller than the bmw and Audi units, it should be making more power just because it’s newer and GM engineers had time to learn about these engines.
To be fair, I’m just waiting for the first camless engine

Then how are they supposed to just swap the cover and put it in a Buick to cannibalize sales?

Black duct tape and a sharpie?

I wonder who will bring that to mass market first. All the players I though might try it (Volvo, VW, etc) are going rapidly to electric.

Engine needs a name ... Tornado, Typhoon, Twin-Fire ... any others?
